How I write long forms to attract clients

3 easy steps

In the past few months, multiple people have hit me up & asked to work with me.

Funnily enough, it’s always after I post authority longforms that this happens.

Let me teach you how I write them:

1) Write a Newsletter

My longform posts are just my newsletters for people with a shorter attention span.

That’s it.

So the first step of writing a killer longform (that gets you clients) is:

Writing your newsletter.

2) Rewrite a Newsletter

Then… you have to structure it a little.

I love posting longform lists, giving my reader a step-by-step solution.

This makes everything easily digestible.

In general:

Make your post as “low effort” to read as possible.

Most people will merely skim through it.

Give them bite-sized pieces of value.

I achieve this with:

  • Lists

  • Whitespace

  • Highlighting words

  • Breaking apart sentences

  • Separators/Dividers: “———”

PRO TIP: Skim the post & be mindful of where your mind drifts off — that’s where you should make things simpler.

3) Hook the Reader

The main difference between newsletter & longform is the hook.

With an email, you have the subject line as a “hook.”

With longform, you can be more creative.

But in essence, this is what you should do:

Option A) Hook with a painpoint

Know your target audience’s problems.

And lure them in with that.

Option B) Hook with social proof

Have you achieved anything that gives you credibility in your space?

Use that as your hook.

Also, use images to prove your credibility.
