I wasted $1500

Don't fall for this trap

Last year I spent over $3000 on online courses.

At least HALF of that was WASTED.

I always tell you to invest in your education.

But listen, there’s a caveat.

You should invest in the RIGHT resources.

(Not just any)

There seems to be a belief that the more successful the mentor/educator, the better the resource.

This is a costly mistake.

For example:

I bought Dan Koe’s Digital Economics for $500.

And yes, it was a good online course.

But a lot of what he taught simply didn’t apply to my specific situation.

Either the strategies were outdated…

Or far too advanced for me.

It felt like playing basketball against LeBron James.

So who SHOULD you be buying from?

It’s quite simple:

People who are 1-2 steps ahead of you.

Multiple reasons for this:

  • It’s personalized (usually)

  • They have the most up-to-date knowledge

  • They know exactly what your next moves should be

But I get it…

There are a lot of scammers out there.

An investment in a lesser-known person can be scary.

I pick my mentors by asking myself this question:

Does their free stuff help me?

If the answer is “hell yeah!1!” (with a triple exclamation mark)...

I’ll consider buying from them.

So there are 2 lessons:

  1. Invest in people 1-2 steps ahead of you

  2. Make your free stuff as good as possible
