Want a spot on my engagement list?
?
Today is one of those days, isn’t it?
It’s grey, foggy, and depressing outside.
Which is why I’ve spent the past 45 minutes planning a spontaneous escape to the Canary Islands. Haven’t bought the tickets yet, but will probably do so soon.
Anyways, let’s talk about the engagement list thingy.
So here’s the problem:
If you’ve been posting on Twitter for more than 6 months, you’ll know that generating traffic right now is brutal.
It’s a whole lot harder than it used to be.
I recently recorded a podcast with Sohom Mukherjee (@thesohom1) who’s built a $7k/mo agency around this and is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to traffic.
And he drilled into my head a brutal reality we should all be aware of:
Most businesses have a
traffic problem.
See, your business consists of 5 components:
Traffic
Leads
Sales
Clients/customers
Case studies
If ANY of these are not operating at peak efficiency, your entire business is constricted and limited.
If one cog in the machine is broken, the entire thing will fall apart.
Most of us suck at generating traffic.
Here’s my theory of why:
Generating traffic is the most boring, painful, mind-numbing, soul-crushing, tiresome, tedious, dull, monotonous, unexciting, and lifeless activity in business.
But in essence, it’s pretty simple:
Post content on social media, engage to feed the algorithm, and reach out to potential customers. Repeat.
That’s the secret; there is no fucking secret.
You just have to do this repeatedly, every single day, preferably for hours upon hours until your fingers bleed.
It’s the boring and painful work that (unfortunately) 100%, absolutely, unequivocally MUST be done.
I will admit…
I have been slacking on this lately. Partly because I’ve been super busy with client work and I haven’t had the bandwidth, but also because my brain has an innate resistance to monotonous tasks.
It’s my fault.
But there’s no use in complaining so here’s how I’ll fix this problem:
I will start engaging consistently again (after 6+ months of NOT doing it).
Yeah… not exactly what you’d call revelatory.
To do this, I’ve thrown together a list of creators that I’ll be engaging with daily from now on.
But I thought I’d make this a little more fun by incorporating my audience.
That’s why…
The first 5 people who reply to this email will get a spot on my engagement list.
This means:
I’ll try my best to regularly engage with your content so you can get a boost and leverage my audience. It’s a win-win.
Sound cool?
If so, reply with the words “list baby.”
(This will also help a man get out of that pesky promo tab that my emails have been landing in ever since my… umm… “aggressive” and very fun BF campaign. So I appreciate any replies.)
No strings attached, just thought this would be fun and make engaging a little more enjoyable for me.
Anyways…
I might need to book those plane tickets now. Wintertime is killing me.

P.S. Make sure to check out Sohom on the socials (@thesohom1). He’s genuinely a super smart operator.
