The SINGLE most important word in marketing
It's not "free" or "you"
Before I reveal that ONE word…
Let me tell you about a couple of rules I have when emailing my list (you guys 😉) — it’ll be important for later:
I will NEVER pitch you anything that I don’t wholeheartedly stand behind and believe will change my buyer’s life for the better
I will NEVER run sleazy promos just to get a ‘quick sale’
I will NEVER send an email that isn’t worth you stopping whatever you’re doing right now
I will NEVER not tell you my brutally honest opinion – even on controversial topics
Why am I telling you all this?
Well, because I see too many email marketers break ALL of these rules at once.
They’re selling you crappy products they know won’t help
They’re sending you blatant sales pitches that aren’t even entertaining to read
They’re providing ZERO value – all they do is sell, sell, sell
They’re pretending to be “the good boys” – but in reality, we both know they’re fake as fuck
You can probably name at least one of these people.
The worst part?
They seem to be winning.
They’re boasting about how many sales they’ve made… how their income is growing… how everything is nice and well in their world.
(First off: Everyone who says everything in their world is sunshine and rainbows deserves to be distrusted immediately. Every entrepreneur has got their problems.)
Secondly: It seems totally unfair.
Why are the bad guys always winning?
But frankly…
I don’t care.
Why?
Because they’re playing a short-sighted game.
They have a 5-week view of their marketing instead of a 5-year view.
One of the reasons I don’t blatantly pitch you in every email is that I want you to trust me and buy from me in the future. (yes, I admit to that).
But I can wait.
I don’t need to make sales now.
The marketers we just talked about… they can’t.
And this is where we get to the single most important word in marketing:
REPUTATION
See, you can have the best copywriting… market research… marketing tactics…
But if nobody TRUSTS you – aka you have a shit reputation – you won’t make any sales.
And these “scammy” marketers are putting their reputations on the line for a quick uptick in their Stripe account.
Pathetic.
What they don’t realize?
Months and years down the road… they’ve milked out their audience so much that nobody wants to hear – let alone buy – from them anymore.
Obviously, that’s a bad place to be in.
But this is what most copywriters/marketers do for you when you hire them.
They run some sleazy campaigns to deliver “quick” results for you – and, sometimes, they might.
But all it does is decrease your capacity to make sales in the future.
They prioritize quick money over big money.
Not me.
When you hire me as a marketer, you won’t have to worry about any of that.
I’ll set up systems with a 5-10-year timeframe in mind – not a scammy 3-week campaign.
(And yes, I do launches & campaigns… but in a way that doesn’t hurt your reputation).
So if you want a marketer (I do more than just writing) who genuinely stands behind what they do and delivers a long-term steady stream of inbound leads for you…
Reply with the word “Ghost” and I’ll send you the details about how I do that.
(Mind you, I pitch with a clean conscience, KNOWING that if the right person takes up on this… they’ll transform their business).
For the time being…
Ask yourself the following question:
In what ways are you potentially damaging your reputation to make a quick buck?
You have to trust the fact that the hidden currency of reputation is MUCH more valuable than the measurable currency of money.
Not saying that if you’re making good money right now, you’re damaging your rep.
Not at all.
But constantly ask yourself:
Am I also growing my capital of TRUST?
I’ll leave you with that.
If you’re interested in adding 5-10 qualified inbound leads to your biz every single month – done completely for you… reply with “Ghost” as mentioned above.
Cheers & talk soon,
Tim <3
