Powerful business lesson from Clash of Clans (for real)

Do you remember Clash of Clans?

That mobile game everyone and their mom played back in 2018?

Well, I recently opened the app again and checked out my village.

It was just like I’d left it…

• Townhall 10

• Same clan I’d been in for years

• And my X-bow was still upgrading (damn that fucker took ages)

Pure nostalgia.

But here’s a thing I realized:

Clash of Clans is quite similar to building a business.

You’re investing your gold and elixir (time & focus) into leveling up parts of your village (biz).

For example:

Instead of upgrading your Barbarian King, you’re upgrading your storytelling skills.

And then use them in a battle to steal the loot (Dolla bills babyyyyy)!

But another thing is also very similar…

In Clash of Clans, you can BUY your way to the top.

It’s pay-to-win.

It takes SUPER long to keep leveling up once you reach a certain level.

Some objects took an entire MONTH to upgrade.

Luckily…

You can buy gems.

And then use those gems to have all sorts of stuff done FASTER.

• Leveling up your clan castle

• Leveling up your Barbarian King

• Leveling up your dragon in the lab

Believe it or not…

It’s the exact same as business.

See, in business, you can also “buy” your way to the top.

You can level up FASTER than everyone else.

Instead of buying gems…

You can buy:

• Books

• Courses

• Mentorships

…To upgrade certain parts of your business much faster.

I never invested in Clash of Clans, but I DID invest in my business.

And guess what?

Despite this blatantly obvious shortcut…
