I’m usually a pretty “anti-pharma” typa guy.

I rarely, if ever, take painkillers like Ibuprofen when I’m sick.

Not because I’m some Big-Pharma conspiracy theorist (both of my parents work in pharma actually)…

But because I trust that my body is strong enough to heal on its own.

So far… I’ve had pretty good success rates. (I’m still alive, see!)

But recently…

I was knocked out by food poisoning.

For an entire night, I threw up every 45 minutes on the clock. Without fail.

Not fun.

And by the end of the night … I’d thrown my “no pills policy” out the window and I was popping pills like a 1980s rockstar.

What made me do this?

Simple:

Pain

The mere thought of having to endure 1 more minute of these grueling stomachaches, headaches, and fever chills had me binging on medicine like it’s Haribo Goldbears.

And that – ladies and gentlemen – is a fascinating marketing lesson.

See, if there’s one thing close to a mathematical equation in marketing, it’d be this:

Severe Pain + Promise of Relief
= Sale 🤑

This is marketing 1-on-1. 

Yet…

I see so many copywriters/ghostwriters (the people who should know better), not realize the profundity of this equation.

They don’t realize that THIS is the reason scaling their business feels like an uphill battle.

Like a perpetual roller coaster of chasing after clients – where you’re being ghosted in the DMs, feeling like a failure, and grinding for long hours while comically underpaid.

Why?

Because they don’t understand how their service relates to their Ideal Client’s pain.

Until you figure out what problem your service REALLY solves and which severe, burning pain it solves for your clients…

You will forever be stuck in this soul-sucking, creativity-killing hamster wheel.
