I took Magic Mushrooms

Welp, I didn’t have the best start to 2025…

On the 1st of January, my family and I sat down to have lunch together.

The meal à la carte? Poke Bowls.

A rice foundation, some veggies on top, and most importantly, chicken breast for the protein (gainz, baby).

Oh yeah…

Not to forget – some mushrooms.

Some might call them… magic mushrooms. But not the type that leaves you hallucinating…

VIOLENTLY VOMITING
FOR 11 HOURS.

The first day of 2025 consisted of me mumbling prayers at the porcelain altar (and spewing out all the precious chicken breast I just had). 😅

I’ll spare you the details though.

But being the hopeful optimist I am… I tried to find a lesson in this.

(Not easy when you’re still strapped to your bed and close to overdosing on Ibuprofen.)

But here’s my best attempt:

When I ate those funky mushrooms, they actually tasted decent. (As decent as mushrooms can taste anyway.)

I couldn’t have guessed that they were poisoned.

It’s the same with the information you consume online – a lot of it will make you feel good because it validates your thinking … but in reality, it’s often harmful to your business.

For example:

I recently heard someone say that it’s okay if your income isn’t growing.

Of course that makes you feel better about yourself if your income is stagnating.

Unfortunately…

It distracts you from the fact that if your business isn’t steadily growing (and mind you: it doesn’t need to grow breakneck fast) … you’re doing this business thing wrong.

If you’re not growing, you’re dying.

It’s an unfortunate truth.

See, sometimes we need to eat a shit sandwich like this to break out of a plateau and take our business to the next level. 

The delicious meal that makes us feel good (like that Poke Bowl), is often the most harmful to us long-term.

That’s why it’s so important to have someone to tell you the truth – even if it hurts your feelings.

Because one thing that’s more painful than a hard reality check?

A slowly dying business.
