I hijacked a mastermind call

I was on a mastermind call with some successful creators yesterday.

Originally, we came to talk about:

  • Offers

  • Content

  • Client acquisition

And while it was an insightful call… the vibe was very “operational” and logical.

Nothing wrong with this.

However, everything changed when I brought up the topic of limiting beliefs.

All of a sudden…

Everyone's eyes lit up.

I could literally feel the passion through the screen.

Even the least talkative people unmuted their mics and engaged in a lively conversation about mindset, beliefs, and God.

In an INSTANT…

We went from logical & sober… to passionate and enthusiastic.

This made me realize something.

Why did this change in topics cause such a monumental shift in the conversation?

Here’s my theory:

One thing that unites us as humans is the experience of suffering.

We all grapple with self-doubt, fear, uncertainty, temptation, and other demons on a daily basis.

So when I brought up this topic…

It resonated deeply with everyone (because – as far as I can tell – everyone on that call was human).

We’re all obsessed with the question of:

“How can I suffer less?”

Every decision we make is made through this lens.

And whenever something is universally human like this… it means a clever marketer can use it to their advantage.

See…

Your potential clients are not too dissimilar from you and me – after all, they're also human beings.

If you can address the question of “how can I suffer less?” in your content, emails, or sales assets…

You too shall see their faces light up.

It all boils down to understanding the human experience at a deep level.

That’s why the best marketers allocate ample time to analyze their own behavior.

  • Why did I decide to act?

  • Where did I get this belief from?

  • What made me make this decision?

It's the most powerful (and fun) way to become a better marketer & sell more of your product/service.
